Happy 100th day of school! You made it! Not sure what to do to celebrate, or looking to spice things up in your classroom? Well, here are my favorite 100th day of school activities for K-4. I like to use digital activities, so it is easy in any situation, especially when teaching multiple grades or classes, this makes for a low prep set up.
These 100th day of school activities are engaging and will get your students thinking outside the box.
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL ACTIVITY 1: CREATE A 100 DAY OF SCHOOL DIGITAL BOOKLET
Creating a 100 day of school digital booklet is one of my favorite 100th day activities, because it is so low prep. No need to run to the copy machine last minute trying to print a ton of papers, no cutting, or stapling. I love using Google Slides to create an interactive booklet.
First, design your slides with fun questions such as: If I had $100, I would … I want to eat 100 …. When I am 100 I will… and so on! Next, you will want to save all slides as photo files. To allow your students to write on the slides without moving anything around, create a new slide show and add the photos as a background for each slide.
Your students will have a blast coming up with responses to these 100 day questions. If you are looking for a 100th day of school activity that is ready to use, click here to check out my virtual booklet.
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL ACTIVITY 2:
BUILD WITH 100 ITEMS
Grab any STEM supplies you can find and set up stations for your students to build. My must do 100th day of school activity is to allow students to build with different materials. I put 100 items in a box and challenge them to create something new with all of the pieces. You can use any materials you have in your classroom – Lego, blocks, pattern blocks, dominoes, popsicle sticks, index cards, cups, pom poms. You will be amazed at what your students can create!!!!
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL ACTIVITY 3: CREATE A 100 DAY OF SCHOOL SCAVENGER HUNT
Want to get your students up and moving around on the 100th day of school? Try creating a scavenger hunt! Write one hundred days of school on a slide show to display to your class. You can pick random letters, one at a time, and ask students to find items that start with the letter.
Give students 1 or 2 minutes to search for something. In the classroom, give students a clipboard so they can walk around and can record the items they find on a chart. When the timer is up, share the answers with the class. This is sure to be lots of fun!!!! I created a 100th day digital scavenger hunt with automatic timers here.
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL ACTIVITY 4: CREATE A 100 DAY OF SCHOOL GAME
Have your students ever played this or that?! My students love playing this game, they all shout out their answers and look around to see if their classmates agree. We always have so much fun!! In my true STEM fashion, I wanted to come up with a twist on this classic game. As a result, This, That, BUILD, was born!!
Here is how you can play! Students can build with real blocks or virtual ones on the digital response sheet. You will display the slide show to your class, after students pick between this or that, a second slide will follow letting them know how many blocks to add to their building space. Depending on their answer, they will take a certain amount of blocks. As you move through the game, students will collect more and more blocks and can start building. Students will not finish their creation until the game is over. We have been having so much fun with this game!!! Of course all questions are related to 100!! Check it out here.
