Using Augmented Reality in the Classroom

Have you used augmented reality in your classroom? There are many devices being created that can bring AR to your classroom. AR brings objects into your world instead of putting you in a virtual reality experience.

Google Expeditions has created an augmented reality version. Google came to my classroom to pilot this new feature. My students absolutely LOVED this. Dinosaurs, DNA strands, the solar system was brought into my classroom. As students moved closer to objects they could see more details. It was an incredible expereince.

It it also rumored that Google is working on a create your own expeditions app. This will allow your students to create 360 degree image, add descriptions, videos and more. This would allow others to view in a VR viewer.

I can’t wait to see these tools used in every classroom!

Have you used AR before?? Expeditions?
