Spring is in the air! Incorporating STEAM into your classroom does not need to be difficult, typing in the components of STEAM can be easy to do. Do you do centers during math time? Try incorporating a STEM station!
My first graders worked with shapes to create spring designs. They counted and recorded the amount of each shape that was used, then added the total.
After reading The Hungry Caterpillar, my kindergarten classes tried to recreate a tall caterpillar by stacking bottle caps. They used fine motor skills to problem solve and try to balance the caps. After, they measured their caterpillars using unit cubes!
Start small with STEAM! Use every day items and try to find ways to take classic lessons and add a building, technology or math component to them!
